Mamelodi remains calm after yesterday's violent protests
Pretoria police say the situation in Mamelodi east of Pretoria has improved and it is relatively quiet since this morning following a violent protest by residents yesterday. The protest got out of hand when protesters fired live ammunition, hurled stones at police officials and barricaded roads in Mamelodi.

Health department still awaiting condom information
The Health Department today said it was still awaiting feedback from contacts in Britain about the reported 42 million condoms expected to be given to South Africa ahead of the Soccer World Cup. "We are still awaiting confirmation on the details and numbers and once we have that we will release a statement," Health spokesperson Fidel Hadebe said.
