Jaque Fourie gets four-week ban for dangerous tackle
Springbok Jaque Fourie has been banned for four weeks for a dangerous tackle in yesterday's 30-13 defeat to Australia, dealing another blow to South Africa's calamitous defence of their Tri-Nations title. The outside centre will miss two domestic Curry Cup matches and their third Tri-Nations test against New Zealand on Aug 21. Fourie was cited for the spear tackle on Wallabies' number eight Richard Brown in the second minute of the Brisbane match.

Banyana Banyana beat Tanzania 6-0 in an international friendly at Makhulong Stadium yesterday. This is part of South Africa's preparations for the African Cup of Nations taking place in Johannesburg in October. The team is on a mission to finish in the top two spots at the African showpiece event in order to represent the continent at next year's Women's FIFA World Cup in Germany.

South Korean boxer dies after match
A South Korean professional boxer died yesterday after falling unconscious following his match on Saturday in Yesan, south of capital Seoul. Bae Ki-suk, 23, was defeated by a TKO in a domestic title fight in the super flyweight class. He was immediately transferred to a hospital in a city of Daejon, suffering from cerebral haemorrhage.

South Africa has won its first two medals at the World Junior Athletics Championships in Moncton, Canada. One of the medalist, Luvo Manyonga, dedicated his long jump gold medal to Caster Semenya.

Murali calls it quits with 800 test wickets record
Sri Lankan cricket star Mutthia Muralitharan has ended his career with 800 test wickets, becoming the first ever to reach such a feat. Murali took the last wicket on the fifth day of the first test against India to reach the remarkable milestone.
